Inspection fails roundup – 12/21 Featured Image

My team of inspectors and I see A LOT while out looking at homes. Some of it good, some of it bad, and some of it just plain funny.

You’ve all enjoyed these fails every time I share them, so here are some more!

This is all in good fun, so don’t be mean to any of the anonymous houses featured here. All homes have their weird stuff!

With that out of the way, let’s take a look…

1. Hanging on by a thread

a closet rod with a gap between the rod and the wall

You want to be REALLY careful with what you hang in this closet….and shutting the door…and moving too fast…yeah, it’s probably time to replace that rod with something that fits.

2. A true terror: locked outside of the bathroom when you really have to go ????

a person holding a small key

a person inserting a small key into a hole inside a doorknob

This is a pretty common problem we see in homes, but doesn’t make it any less frustrating: the ol’ self-locking bathroom door. If you get stuck outside, you’ll need a pokey stick to get back in: just hurry!

3. Extra storage

a pile of boxes in a bathtub

If you’re not using your tub this isn’t the WORST use we’ve seen…but it’s also not the best. Think of the moisture damage!

4. Unconventional Sealant

a drain surrounded with electrical tape

Folks, electrical tape is good for a lot of things but sealing your drains isn’t one of them. This is doomed to fail.

5. A beam with character

a wooden beam held in place with metal

Well…it does hold the beams in place. For now.

All homes have their quirks, all we can do is laugh and fix what we can.

I’m just sayin’
