    Inspection fails roundup – 11/21

    Posted on: December 8, 2021

My team of inspectors and I see A LOT while out looking at homes. Some of it good, some of it bad, and some of it just plain funny.

Last time I shared some of these fails you all liked them, so here are a few more from on the job.

This is all in good fun, so don’t be mean to any of the anonymous houses featured here. All homes have their weird stuff!

With that out of the way, let’s take a look…

    1. The mysterious dripping noise

The beauty of this problem is it doesn’t need to be seen to be believed – you can experience it with only your ears. In all seriousness, leaky pipes are a common – but certainly not fun – issue to run into.

    2. A not-so-great wall

an uneven fence line holding up a foundation

Whoever put up this metal fence was so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should. We’re one hearty breeze away from disaster.

    3. The door destroyer

a doorstop missing a buffer, so it's just a long pole

Good news: this is an easy problem to fix. Bad news: you’re one angsty teenager away from a huge hole in your door, faster than you can say “it’s not a phase, mom.”

    4. Drink up

a window with water leaking out of it

Disclaimer: under no circumstances should you drink the window water. C’mon now!

    5. Mind the wet spot

a ceiling with a large and visible stain from a leak

Eek! This ceiling has a lot of stories, and right now it’s screaming: FIX THE LEAK!

All homes have their quirks, all we can do is laugh and fix what we can.

    I’m just sayin’
